Privacy Policy
Nurtured Organics (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Contact and order details — your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, and what you’ve ordered.
- Payment information — handled by our payment providers, not stored by us. We only see confirmation that a payment has gone through, and the last four digits of your card.
- Account details — if you create an account, your username and password.
- Messages you send us — anything you include when you email or contact us.
- Technical information — your IP address, browser and device type, and how you move around the site. This is collected automatically.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Why we’re allowed to |
|---|---|
| Process and deliver your order, handle returns, respond to enquiries | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keep the site secure and prevent fraud | Our legitimate interests |
| Understand how the site is used so we can improve it | Consent (via cookies) |
| Keep records for tax and accounting | Legal obligation |
We don’t currently send marketing emails. If we start, we’ll only email you if you’ve opted in, and every message will have an unsubscribe link.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell, rent or trade your data. We share it only with the businesses that help us run the shop:
- Shopify — hosts our website and processes orders on our behalf. Shopify’s own privacy policy is at privacy.shopify.com.
- Payment processors — to take payment securely.
- Couriers — your name and delivery address, so your order arrives.
- Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. This involves sharing technical information such as your IP address and browsing activity with Google. You can opt out using Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- HMRC or other authorities — where we’re legally required to.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that’s the case, transfers are protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, plus analytics cookies (including Google Analytics) to see how the site is being used. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via the banner when you first visit, and change your mind any time in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
Order and transaction records are kept for six years, as required for tax purposes. Enquiries are kept for up to two years. Account details are kept until you ask us to close your account.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correct anything that’s wrong
- Delete it (where we’re not legally required to keep it)
- Restrict or object to how we’re using it
- Send it to another provider
Email sophie@nurturedorganics.co.uk and we’ll respond within one month. There’s no charge.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled things, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
This site isn’t aimed at children and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you think your child has given us their details, email us and we’ll delete them.
Changes
We’ll update this page if our practices change, and amend the date at the top.
